Lauren Graham è nata il 16 marzo del 1967 ad Honululu nelle Isole Hawaii.E’ cresciuta nel Nord della Virginia dove ha frequentato la Langley High School. In seguito ha conseguito una laurea al Barnard College/Columbia University con una tesi sulla letteratura inglese. Alla Southern Methodist University ha invece fatto un Master in recitazione.Lauren è stata cresciuta dal padre Larry,presidente dell’Associazione manifatturiera della cioccolata,dopo che la madre li aveva abbandonati per seguire la sua carriera di cantante;quando accadde quest’evento Lauren aveva solo 5 anni. Lauren scoprì la sua passione per la recitazione durante le rappresentazioni teatrali della scuola elementare.Nel telefilm,Lorelai resta incinta di Rory a 16 anni e si trova a dover crescere la bambina da sola,poiché Chris non si sente pronto per affrontare una responsabilità del genere.A sostenerla,anche se con molti rimbrotti,ci sono i suoi genitori,Emily e Richard Gilmore. Lorelai è un personaggio eclettico che cerca di superare le difficoltà che affronta nella vita di tutti i giorni da sola;bisogna dire che il più delle volte ci riesce alla grande.Nella vita conta molto suoi suoi amici;Sookie è la sua confidente mentre Luke,è forse più di un sincero amico…
